PURPOSE
The Kenneth M. Orchard Scholarship is designed to aid needy and qualified undergraduate students at the University of Wisconsin – Madison who are United Methodists. The Orchard Scholarship was established by gifts made by family, friends and colleagues of Mr. Kenneth M. Orchard, Esq., a long-time member of University United Methodist Church and legal agent of The Wesley Foundation of Wisconsin, Inc.-Madison, and distinguished alumnus of the School of Agriculture and the Law School at the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Orchard died May, 1995. The amount of the annual scholarship varies based on interest returns, but is normally in the range of $200 - $600. There have been several recipients each year.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Be a sophomore, junior or senior at the University of Wisconsin–Madison during the year for which scholarship aid is sought. Students may major in any field but must be admitted to a degree program. Awards are not made to students on academic or disciplinary probation.
2. Be an active member of the United Methodist Church.
3. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. (Please include official academic transcripts)
4. Be able to demonstrate financial need.
There will be no work requirements attached to this scholarship.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Download application material from the Lecture Fund, Loans, and Scholarships Committee of The Wesley Foundation, 1127 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53715. Deadline for all materials, including a recent official academic transcript is April 19, 2009. Awards will be presented at University the United Methodist Church’s regular worship service on Sunday, May 3, 2009.
